Caterpillar is an American based company of the type public.It is headquartered in Peoria, Illinois. Caterpillar (CAT) is, according to their website, “the world’s largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines.” Founded in the year 1925, Caterpillar produces a wide range of engineering vehicles. James W. Owens is the current CEO and Chairman. It employs around 97,444 people as of 2008.
